MONROE - More than 50 volunteers and supporters enjoyed breakfast together on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the first Main Street Volunteer Recognition and Recruitment Breakfast held in the Turner Hall Ratskeller.
Pam Christopher, executive director of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave an enthusiastic address followed by awards presented by the Board of Directors and Representative Brett Davis.
Volunteers honored at the event include Design Committee members Jean Tullett and Ruth Barth, Economic Restructuring Committee member Marilyn Pfarr, Organization Committee members Phyllis Long and Audrey Hein and Promotion Committee members Veronica Bruce, Tom Miller, Tracy Hamilton, Cherie Hughes, Barb Gelbach and Karen Stollenwerk.
In addition community partners - Eva Didier, representing the Monroe Farmer's Association; Richard Daniels, Monroe Arts Center director; and John Baumann, president of Swiss Colony - were recognized. A traveling "Above and Beyond" plaque was presented to Barb Nelson, Main Street director. The Recognition and Recruitment Breakfast was the first in what will become an annual Main Street event.
