MONROE — Madison pianist Jess Salek will perform a diverse program of compositions by Schubert, Liszt, and Beethoven at the Monroe Arts Center at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at MAC’s Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall, 1315 11th Street, Monroe.
This is the third of eight concerts in Monroe Arts Center’s 2018-19 Sunday Concert Series.
Salek has worked as music theory instructor at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and as piano instructor at Prairie Music Academy in Sun Prairie. He has also judged piano competitions and music festivals throughout Wisconsin. For years, he served as accompanist for Madison Youth Choirs, a nonprofit performing group based in Madison. He also performs as keyboardist with Madison Symphony Orchestra and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra for Concerts on the Square.
From 2009 to 2013, he was music director of Fresco Opera Theatre, which in 2013 received bronze in the Performing Arts Group category in Madison Magazine’s “Best Of Madison” competition – an award voted by fans. Competitively, Salek has won the piano division of the Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs competition, and the Beethoven Competition in Madison. An accomplished performer, Salek has performed numerous solo programs at Farley’s House of Pianos in Madison as well as in venues located in Viroqua and Westby. This upcoming concert marks his second solo program at the Monroe Arts Center. Jess is also founder and owner of Salek Piano Studio Inc. on Madison’s west side, where he teaches a diverse group of about 50 students of all ages and levels. He is founder and pianist of the critically-acclaimed Mosaic Chamber Players, a professional group dedicated to performing varied chamber music programs throughout Wisconsin.
