MAC welcoming spring with final series concert

The Madison Youth Choir under the direction of Michael Ross will perform at the Monroe Arts Center on May 1 at 2 p.m.

MONROE — A one-hour vocal concert will take place at Monroe Arts Center (MAC) on Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. Over 60 members of Madison Youth Choirs (MYC), under the direction of artistic director Michael Ross, will take the audience on an eclectic musical journey through time and across the globe. This is the final concert of MAC’s 2021-22 Sunday Concert Series.

Madison Youth Choirs’ girls Cantabile and the boys Ragazzi choirs will perform new pieces and past favorites by both American and European composers such Stephen Chatman, Gideon Klein, Hildegard von Binge, as well as the Zulu Folk song, Lindonga za Jeriko.

Madison Youth Choirs is the oldest youth choir organization in Wisconsin. They are a community of youth finding and sharing their voices through the study and performance of diverse choral music, enriching their hearts, minds, and lives. The organization’s innovative approach to music education inspires local, regional, and international communities to embrace the transformative power of choral performance.

The Choirs have an international reputation and they perform and collaborate annually with professional arts organizations including the Madison Symphony Orchestra, Madison Ballet, and Madison Opera, while continually supporting and recognizing the work of public schools and music educators throughout the area. In addition to a public concert series, MYC conducts an annual spring tour of schools and retirement centers, performing for more than 7,000 students and senior citizens annually.

General admission tickets to this extraordinary afternoon of vocal excellence by Madison Youth Choirs are $10 for adults and $5 for students 18 years of age and under. Members of the Monroe Arts Center can attend the concert free of charge. Tickets may be purchased online at
