Christine Pedi stars in the comedy show “Great Dames” at Monroe Arts Center on Saturday, March 7.

MONROE — The Monroe Arts Center will present “Great Dames” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall, 1315 11th St., Monroe.

The show is starring New York City comedic actress, impressionist and radio personality Christine Pedi, the “lady of 1,000 voices.” She impersonates the great dames of the stage, screen and beyond such as Cher, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minelli, Joan Rivers and more, singing everything from Beatles tunes to favorite songs from the movies and Broad-way. Backstage stories of what’s happening in the world of Broadway are all a part of this memorable show.

“Great Dames” has won the New York Bistro and Nitelife Awards, and has played in New York City, Los Angeles, South Africa, London and beyond. London’s British Theatre Guide says Pedi’s show is a “cabaret with fun and finesse.”

Christine Pedi first discovered her talent for impersonating multiple personalities through her long association with the legendary off-Broadway revue “Forbidden Broadway,” having performed in companies all over the world including Los Angeles, New York City, Detroit, London’s West End, Japan and Singapore.

She also brought her collection of “Divas” to off-Broadway’s long running show, “Newsical the Musical.” She has starred in and co-produced “Spamilton: An American Parody,” and on Broadway played the role of Mama Morton in the musical “Chicago.” In early February 2020, she starred in the stage play “Love Letters” with Paul Romenello.

Pedi received a Drama Desk nomination, as well as an LA Ovation and NAACP award for her work in “Forbidden Hollywood.” She has sung in many major New York City venues including Birdland Jazz Club, Feinstein’s/54 Below, The Iridium, The Metropolitan Room, The Algonquin, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, Avery Fisher Hall, Don’t Tell Mama and on the Queen Elizabeth 2. And, she has performed for President Bill Clinton and Mrs. Clinton (playing a singing Hillary). Christine teaches master classes in song performance for various colleges, performing arts schools and camps.

On weekdays, Pedi is the daily host of Sirius XM Radio’s On Broadway channel playing music of the stage and screen, along with interviewing show business legends. On Saturdays she and American musician, actor, and writer Seth Rudetsky co-host the Dueling Divas radio show.
