MONROE — Monroe Arts Center still has entertainment scheduled as part of the 2020 Summer of Music outdoor concert series. These free concerts are from 6 to 8 p.m. and take place on the south outdoor lawn area on the corner of 11th Street and 14th Avenue of the Monroe Arts Center property.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26 the Monroe-area band Funhouse, formerly known as the Steve Scheppele Band, is the next music group to take the outdoor stage at MAC. Funhouse is a four-piece band whose members include Steve Scheppele (keyboard/vocals), Tashona Smith (vocals/guitar), Val Johnson (percussion/vocals), and Ginger Roddick (vocals). Whether it’s rock, pop, Motown, soul, funk or country, they play it all, and their main goal is to play both cover and original tunes.

Putting their unique sound on traditional music genres, along with their ability to compile mashups that cram together hits from wildly contrasting artists like Annie Lennox, Iggy Azalea and the Weather Girls, this music group resembles a funhouse at the carnival.
