MONROE — For a 31st consecutive year, Monroe Arts Center announces details for the upcoming Photography Contest and Exhibit. The contest is open to non-professional photographers and participants are not required to be Wisconsin residents. Photographs entered in this contest will be on display at MAC from Sept. 22 through Oct. 30 at MAC, 1315 11th St., Monroe.
The two classifications for the contest are Adult and Junior (under 18 years of age). There are no categories and there is no limit to the number of photographs entered. The entry fee for the Adult Classification is $20 per photograph, and $10 per photograph for the Junior Classification. Cash and ribbon awards in the Adult Classification are $125/Best of Show, $75/2nd Place, $50/3rd Place, $25/4th Place. Cash and ribbon awards in the Junior Classification are $50/Best of Show, $30/2nd Place, $25/3rd Place, $20/4th Place. All photographs must have been taken after September 2019.
Entry forms must be received (and/or postmarked) by Tuesday, Sept. 1. Photographs can be delivered only from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 or from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11.
The judge for this year’s contest is Samuel Li. Li is a full-time videographer/photographer based in Madison. Before running his own production company, Bascom Visuals, he worked on the creative team of a top Midwest advertising agency and on an Addy award-winning multimedia team. His clients include Samsung, Miller Lite, American Family Insurance, GRAMMY award-nominated artist ODESZA, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and many others.
