Argyle Dairy Queen

MONROE - Did you know that there is a pudding that is manufactured and distributed in Green County? There is and it is called Louie's Pudding.

Louie and Carol Lancaster in 1984 moved their pudding business into a historic creamery nestled in the hillside of the winding riverbanks of Argyle in southwest Wisconsin.

Their repertoire of Old World recipes was joined by the second generation of Lancasters, which was led by daughter-in-law Anne.

Some things that are made at Louie's are: Rice pudding, rice pudding with raisins, tapioca and bread pudding. Also they have baked custards: plain, with raisins, and with rice.

You can find these great puddings and custard products in the deli departments of grocery stores in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Some local grocery stores that carry these would be Woodman's, Logli's, Piggly Wiggly, Cub Foods and Sentry.

In September, Anne Lancaster acquired the creamery. She was born and raised on a family farm in Argyle/South Wayne area. Anne graduated from Blackhawk Technical College in 1987 with an associate's degree. After working 11 years in the banking profession with Associated Bank, Anne started Market Foods, LLC. Louie's distributorship in 2002 serving Southwest Wisconsin but divested the operation in 2005 due to family reasons. Realizing product safety is critical, the company called the dairy business Norm Monsen which assembles a team of dairy experts addressing various operational issues.

"To grow, get good people and invest in them," comments Anne. Local resident Mike Godfrey has become a plant manager which has brought valuable dairy processing experience to their team.

Many other employees were also hired but were trained to assist with production and quality control.

Louie's is located at 109 River St., Argyle, WI 53504.

So Louie's seems like a really great place and I encourage all you that read this to go try Louie's puddings and custards also remind your friends about Louie's too.
