WEST ALLIS - The Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction Committee has announced the recipients of the 2008 Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction Scholarships. The Committee sponsored five $1,500 scholarships, five $1,000 scholarships and five $500 scholarships. Area recipients include:
Adam George, son of Paul and Barbara George, Brooklyn - $1,500 scholarship
Kaley Bockhop, daughter of Kevin and Michele Bockhop, Belmont - $1,000 scholarship
Danielle Wittmann, daughter of Brian and Diana Wittman, New Glarus - $1,000 scholarship
Justin Wedig, son of Joe and Kim Wedig, Darlington - $500 scholarship.
Given on an annual basis, the recipients are recognized for their leadership skills, academic achievements, accomplishments as Wisconsin State Fair Junior Livestock exhibitors and potential as future contributors to the livestock industry. The awards are used to assist them with their educational expenses.
The Mission of the Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction Committee is to educate and encourage youth exhibitors to produce high quality livestock that will provide wholesome and nutritious products, to provide a platform for enhancing and strengthening the agriculture community of Wisconsin, and to foster better understanding of the agriculture industry throughout our society.
