ALBANY - Three sixth-grade students were recognized at an Albany Lions Club meeting March 28 for their work on posters depicting a peaceful future.
Nick Stokstad, Tamarra Boss and Avary Briggs were recognized as first, second and third place in the Albany Lions Club Peace Poster Contest. Sixth-grade students worked on their posters during language arts classes in their first semester.
This year's contest theme was "The Future of Peace." The entire Albany sixth-grade class participated in this project. Albany Lions Club members then selected the placements. All three finalists were treated to a dinner, certificate of recognition and given a cash prize.
The school is grateful to the Albany Lions Club for offering this opportunity each year to students of Albany Middle School.
