PECATONICA, Illinois — A former Monroe Police officer was awarded a Lifesaving Medal for his actions following a 2017 residential fire. The award ceremony was held Oct. 30 in Springfield, Illinois.

Trooper Josh Heer, a 5-year veteran of the Illinois State Police, now serves district 16 as a first responder instructor, juvenile officer, and field training officer. 

District 16 covers Jo Daviess, Winnebago, Boone and Stephenson counties.
