MONROE - Families with children ages 3 and older are invited to stop by any time from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, for St. Patrick's Day Fun, a program filled with crafts and stories, at the Monroe Public Library.

Participants will have the opportunity to make a variety of crafts and hear Blarney Stone Stories with Kris Ault, Youth Services Librarian, at noon.

The VolunTEEN Leprechauns will be on hand to assist young crafters as they create leprechaun puppets, shamrock necklaces, shamrock banners, claddagh friendship cards, and good luck charms.

Materials to make shamrock crowns will be available in the children's room of the library from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, prior to the parade. All friends of the library, regardless of age, are invited to don a bit o' the green and join the Youth Services staff when they march in Monroe's St. Patrick's Day Parade at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, March 17. Decorated wagons and strollers are welcome as we hand out lucky gold coins to parade watchers.

St. Patrick's Day Fun at the Monroe Public Library is just one part of the day's festivities in Monroe. For more information on other events contact Monroe Main Street at 328-4023 or their Web site, www.monroemainstreet.org.

The St. Patrick's Day Fun program and the pre-parade craft are free and no registration is required.
