ALBANY - The Albertson Memorial Library, 200 N. Water St., will host a presentation about Eleanor Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20.

"Eleanor Roosevelt: Overcoming Odds, Achieving Greatness" will be presented by Jim Gibbons, a Marengo, Ill. historian. Gibbons visits libraries and other venues in Wisconsin and Illinois to speak about presidential and United States history. He is known for his talks on the 1958 tragedy of the Our Lady of the Angels School fire, the 1963 Kennedy assassination, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and the similarities between John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln.

Kara Blue, Albany library director, wanted Gibbons to speak about Eleanor Roosevelt to honor Women's History Month. The presentation was designed to show Eleanor Roosevelt's passion for social justice that gave hope and strength to the oppressed and downtrodden. It is through her success story that Gibbons feels others can benefit and move forward with their lives in a positive way.

The free presentation is open to the public.
