BLANCHARDVILLE — The Blanchardville Public Library will be part of Wisconsin Science Festival 2025. Speaker Amanda Latham is supported by UW Badger Talks.

The event, “Severe Weather Trends and Patterns in Wisconsin” will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday Oct. 23.

Wisconsin’s weather is becoming increasingly variable, with tornadoes in February and 80 degree weather in November. They’ll look at patterns in severe weather across the state, what types of changes are being seen, and what communities are impacted.

Latham is a Climate Outreach Specialist for the Wisconsin State Climatology Office. She has a background in science communication, having worked as a broadcast meteorologist for five years after completing a B.S. in atmospheric and oceanic science from UW-Madison. At the state climate office, she works to design, promote, and support educational programming and outreach to help partners understand and adapt to weather and climate challenges in Wisconsin.
