MONROE — The Monroe Public Library will host two upcoming programs presented by Rebecca Hom, a master storyteller with experience as an exhibit writer, group and classroom facilitator, columnist, public radio correspondent, interpretive naturalist and full-time mother.
She’s gathered and shared stories on six continents, with groups of all kinds. Rebecca will share “Dark Tales for Daring Kids” at 3 p.m. Friday. There will be spooky tricks and treats. Funny-scary, tingly and thought-provoking tales for all ages.
Hom will return at 10 a.m. Saturday to present “Sand, Snakes and Silver Wings: The Womens’ Airforce Service Pilots of World War II.” The WASP were a civilian force of 1,100 women pilots who became the first females to fly military aircraft.
Discover a little-known part of American history, as storyteller Rebecca shares the stories of several WASP pilots and their program, including its creation, conflicts and controversial disbandment. A special highlight of this program will be to honor our local female veterans.
Light refreshments will be provided. No pre-registration is required. For more information, contact the library at 608-328-7010.
