MONROE - Students entering seventh grade and older are invited to become library VolunTEENs this summer and help with summer library programs.

Each afternoon in June and July, the Monroe Public Library will host Wild Wednesday workshops and performer programs for grade school students centered on the theme, "Make a Splash @ Your Library."

VolunTEEN program guides, water games leaders, and craft helpers are needed for the June 16 "Beach Party Kick-Off" celebration. Similar opportunities will be available at the "Down at the Swamp," "Rollin' on the River," and "Pirates Ahoy" workshops later in the summer. This year the "Ready-Or-Not Players," the library teen readers theater troupe, will be presenting a play, "The Fish Wife," as part of the Sail Away Family Fun Night program. For more information, teens can contact director, Laurie Solawetz, in the Youth Services Department.

VolunTEEN applications are available at the Children's Room desk at the library. The application needs to completed and signed by both the teen and a parent or legal guardian.

For more information regarding programs for children and families contact the Youth Services Department at (608) 328-7010.
