LENA - The Le-Win Jaycees are hosting Winterfest 2009 on Jan. 16-18.

"With 2009 just beginning, Winterfest has a bit of something for every person's New Year's resolution," said Todd Jones, Winterfest chairperson for the Le-Win Jaycees. "Whether you've resolved to get physically active, spend more time with family, cut back on your budget or just take time to enjoy life, Winterfest has a wonderful line-up of activities to help you do just that."

Always a crowd-pleaser, the bed races are back with Lena money prizes for fastest team and coolest costume. In addition, several events are making their sophomore appearance, such as the American Legion's fruit pie contest and soup tasting. Some popular activities of past Winterfests are back, such as the volleyball tournament and family day at Lake Le Aqua Na, complete with draft horse sleigh rides and dog sled demos.

This year the Jaycees have something special in store for the Winterfest Dance.

"We want to warm people up with a tropical theme. We're encouraging people to pull out their Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts. We're going to offer a few beach-themed activities," said Jones. "We're also thrilled to have a local favorite band, Free Fall, on hand to help us rock the night away!"
