Legion needs gifts for vets

ARGYLE - The Argyle American Legion Auxiliary Unit 251 is sponsoring the annual local drive for veterans at the Madison VA Hospital. All donations are appreciated. Items needed are:

• Clothing: stocking caps, gloves, scarves, socks, slippers, slipper socks with rubber treads, afghans and quilts for beds or lap size, handkerchiefs and small pillows for neck support

• Personal care items: denture care products, mouthwash, disposable razors, aftershave lotion (non-alcoholic), manicure sets, deodorant, hand lotion, shampoo, hair gel, combs and brushes, cotton swabs, liquid soap (no bar soap), and women's hygiene products

• Miscellaneous: all occasion and Christmas cards, pens or pencils, stationary, envelopes, 42-cent stamps, note pads, phone cards, color books and crayons, puzzles, word search and crossword puzzles, playing cards, cribbage board sets, dominos, checkers, current magazines, comic books and paperback books (especially westerns) in new or excellent condition

• Snack items: Pringles, snack crackers, peanut butter, jellies, graham crackers, sugar free hot chocolate mix, sugar free kool aid or drink mixes. They cannot accept cookies or candy.

• Monetary donations

Monetary donations should be payable to: Argyle Legion Auxiliary Unit 251 and be sent to: Mary Ann Steep, treasurer; 16798 Valley Road, Argyle, WI 53504.

Take all items to the Argyle Community Building kitchen by Nov. 24. The building is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. If closed, go through the library or leave at the Amcore Bank.
