Learn the evolution of American immigration policy past and present

MONROE — An in-depth overview of American immigration, “Immigration in America: Past and Present”, will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 at Union Presbyterian Church, 2707, 5th Street, Monroe. This educational and community-centered event will explore the historical roots, current legal landscape, and lived experiences of immigration in the United States.

Speakers will include Dr. Mike Jacobs, University of Wisconsin history professor, Kime Abduli, immigration attorney and former Monroe resident. Jacobs will provide a historical perspective on the evolution of U.S. immigration laws and practices; Abduli will discuss current immigration laws and policies. Local immigrants will also share their personal stories and experiences.

This event offers and opportunity for learning, reflection, and dialogue around one of the most important and complex issues facing the nation today.
