Land judging contest to be held Oct. 18

ALBANY - The Green County Land and Water Conservation Department will be hosting the 2017 Southwest Wisconsin Land Judging contest at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Albany Village Park, located on the corner of North Jackson and Washington streets in Albany. Participants will leave for the land judging site at 9:30 a.m. The contest should be completed by noon.

The rules for the contest are:

• Only one team from each school or organization is eligible for a team plaque.

• All individuals are eligible for individual plaques whether they are on a team or not.

• The Soil Study and Land Evaluation Handbook of Wisconsin will be the standard used in the judging contest.

• All teams will be composed of three or four members. Only the top three members will count for team scoring.

• Individuals may compete even if they are not on a team.

• A total of four pits will be judged.

• There will be plaques for the first five teams placing and the first five individuals placing.
