KC announces knowledge contest winners

MONROE - The Knights of Columbus Math and Spelling contest for fifth graders was held in Abraham Lincoln, Northside, Parkside, and St. Victor Schools the week of Nov. 30. Building winners are as follows:

Math

• St. Victor School (four entrants): Bradley Ripp, first place; Michell Millner, second place; Alizae Swenson, third place

• Northside School (13 entrants): Silas Setterstrom, first place; Kyle Krebs, second place; Nathan Smith, third place;

• Parkside School (19 entrants): Jacob Kind, first place; Darian Boeck, second place; Brandon Hendrickson, third place;

• Abraham Lincoln (seven entrants): Nick Baumann , first place; Hunter Weckerly, second place; Gavin Sager, third place;

Spelling

• St. Victor School (six entrants): Elizabeth Brennan, first place; Vanessa Meier, second place; Clare-Michaela Hughes, third place;

• Northside School (15 entrants): Meghan Finley, first place; Alicia Kuester, second place; Benjamin Dombkowski, third place;

• Parkside School (20 entrants): Kelsie Pulvermacher, first place; Abigail Bethke, second place; Scott Foley, third place;

• Abraham Lincoln (2 entrants): Brianna Abell, first place; Trenton Prien, second place.

Building winners and all participants receive certificates. The first-place citywide winners in math and spelling each receive an engraved plaque and are eligible to compete at the Diocesan Level Knowledge Contest in March where they will compete against other winners from the southwestern part of the state. Diocesan winners will advance to the State Level Contest to be held in April.

Citywide results of the Knights of Columbus Knowledge contest held the week of Nov. 30 in Monroe and produced the following winners: Fifth grade - Math: Silas Setterstrom, first place; Kyle Krebs, second place; spelling: Kelsie Pulvermacher, first place; Meghan Finley, second place; sixth grade - math: Caitlynn Kamps, first place; Kahlen Friske, second place; spelling: Ellis Erb, first place; Samantha Curtis, second place; seventh grade - math: Keyton Friske, first place; Carley Berndt, second place; spelling: Delaney Jacobson, first place; Rhett Katzenberger, second place; eighth grade - math: Mark Jenson, first place; Tenaya Mars, second place; spelling: Sarah Sabatke, first place; Devon Antos, second place.

The citywide winners are:

• Math (43 entrants): Silas Setterstrom, first place; Kyle Krebs, second place; Nathan Smith, third place.

• Spelling (43 entrants): Kelsie Pulvermacher, first place; Meghan Finley, second place; Alicia Kuester, third place.

The citywide winners, Silas Setterstrom and Kelsie Pulvermacher, are eligible to represent Monroe at the regional contest in March. In the event a first place winner is unable to participate, the second place winner then becomes eligible.

The Knights of Columbus Knowledge contest held at the Middle School Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 produced the following results. First place winners will advance to the regional contest in March. If a first-place winner is unable to go, then the second-place winner becomes eligible to compete.

Math

• Sixth grade: Caitlynn Kamps, first place; Kahlen Friske, second place; Anna Meritt, third place;

• Seventh grade: Keyton Friske, first place; Carley Berndt, second place; Bryan Wang, third place;

• Eighth grade: Mark Jenson, first place; Tenaya Mars, second place; Amy Gogin, third place;

• Sixth grade: Ellis Erb, first place; Samantha Curtis, second place; Izabel Bazley, third place;

• Seventh grade; Delaney Jacobson, first place; Rhett Katzenberger, second place; Carly Arneson, third place;

• Eighth grade: Sarah Sabatke, first place; Devon Antos, second place.
