JUDA-Young and old alike enjoyed their time at the Juda FFA's 60th FFA Banquet on May 8 in the Juda School. The day started with lunch. Four Juda FFA members, Megan Trotter, McKayla Trotter, Tess Zettle and Luke Jordan, sang the National Anthem to get the banquet started. These students along with Todd Davis will be performing this summer with the State FFA Honors Choir at the Wisconsin State FFA Convention in June and the State Fair in August.
The Juda FFA Chapter officers talked about a moment in Juda FFA's history and thanked those who were members in the past, and then they opened the banquet with their opening ceremonies. Two hundred and twenty-five people attended the banquet, and many awards were presented to current members as well as community supporters. Jim Bauman was presented with the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree for all of the help that he has given the FFA with their corn and soybean test plots over the past few years and also for his expertise in helping the chapter to restore an Allis Chalmers C tractor. Ahrens Acres was presented with the Friend of the FFA Award. Ahrens Acres has been monumental in the process of the Juda School getting a greenhouse and getting it set-up and supplied with resources such as plants, pots, soil, and everything else needed in the process of growing plants. Their knowledge and advice is priceless.
Tyler Franklin, Wisconsin FFA Vice-President gave a welcome from the State FFA Association. Jim Rackow served as auctioneer and Sam Kaderly assisted him during the live auction where items donated by FFA officers and community members were purchased by those in attendance. A total of $2,300 was raised during the live and silent auctions.
Heather Boeke was awarded the Star Chapter Farmer Award, while Emily Seeling received the Dekalb Award. Katy Knudtson was awarded the Juda FFA MVP award. The Star Greenhand Award was presented to Brianna Knudtson and Joel Dieckhoff.
Newly elected officers for 2010-2011 are President Dylan Bauman, Vice-President Bryan Cramer, Secretary Megan Trotter, Treasurer Aly Pierce, Reporter Heidi Mann, Sentinel Joel Dieckhoff, Parliamentarian Troy Allen, and Historian Tess Zettle.
