JUDA - Twelve members of the Juda FFA Chapter competed at the District 13 FFA Speaking Contests on Monday evening, Jan. 25, at Brodhead High School.
Heidi Mann competed in the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest along with eight other contestants. FFA Creed Speakers Brianna Knudtson and Joel Dieckhoff each recited the five paragraph creed written by E.M. Tiffany and then answered three questions about the creed. Knudtson placed first and Dieckhoff placed second in the contest.
Heather Boeke and Katy Knudtson participated in the Job Interview Contest. Each girl developed a resume and a letter of application. They filled out a job application form and then went through an interview for the job that they selected. Boeke placed second in the contest and Knudtson placed fourth.
Bryan Cramer participated in the Discussion Meet Contest. Cramer discussed with other FFA members the topics of Biofuels and how agriculturists can continue to meet the needs of today's consumers. Cramer placed second in the competition.
Juda had two Quiz Bowl teams that participated in the contest against a field of seven teams. Juda's teams consisted of Alyssa Cramer, Molly Salzwedel, and Katlyn Steinmann who took first place in the contest and Samantha DeVoe, Ryan Schmitt, and Celina Trotter made up the second team from Juda which placed second in the contest.
Each of the teams and individuals that placed first or second in the district contest will now compete at the Section V FFA Speaking Contests which will take place on the afternoon of March 11 in Evansville.
