MONROE — John and Katie Baumann are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 John and Katie Baumann Inspiration Project Scholarship. Sophomore Delenn Gillaspie and freshman Xiaolin Liu have been selected for this prestigious award.

Baumann Inspiration Project Scholarship

Established by John Baumann ’82 and Catherine Doyle-Baumann ’85, the scholarship supports undergraduate students from Green County attending UW-Madison. Recipients are chosen based on their embodiment of the Wisconsin Idea, which emphasizes the university’s impact beyond the classroom. John Baumann, former president and CEO of Colony Brands, Inc., expressed his pride in the recipients: “Katie and I are honored to support these two outstanding young women as they pursue their education at one of the nation’s finest institutions, our alma mater, the University of Wisconsin.”

About the Recipients

Delenn Gillaspie is from Monticello and is a mechanical engineering major. She chose UW-Madison for its size and school spirit. She is proud of her acceptance into the College of Engineering and aspires to work in the aircraft industry. Gillaspie is active in several engineering clubs and intramural sports.

Xiaolin Liu, a freshman from Monroe, is pursuing mechanical engineering. She was drawn to UW-Madison’s engineering program and proximity to her family. Liu plans to maintain strong academic performance, participate in research projects, and eventually pursue a master’s degree. Her career goal is to improve machinery efficiency and contribute to mechanical innovations.

Both recipients expressed deep gratitude for the scholarship, which allows them to focus on their studies and pursue their dreams without financial burden.
