Jan. 12 ‘The Jungle Book’ audition with MAC and MCT

MONROE — A group audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) original adaptation of The Jungle Book on Monday, January 12 at Monroe Arts Center from 4-6 p.m. 

Those auditioning should arrive by 4 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Same day registration will take place from 3:30-4 p.m. in the MAC lobby. Parents can also pre-register their child on MAC’s website. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

Approximately 60 roles are available for area youth. This fun filled week is a one-of-a-kind experience that your child will remember forever. Auditions are held on Monday and the cast is ready for a song-filled performance by Saturday. 

Among the roles to be cast are Mowgli (the man-cub), Bagheera (the panther) and Akela (the leader of the pack), the entire wolf pack, Shere Khan (the tiger) with his side-kick Tabaqui (the jackal), Nag and Nagaina (the cobras), Darzee (the bird), Hathi (the master elephant), Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (the mongoose), Kaa (the rock-python), Buck (a buck) and of course the Bander-log. All youth, grades kindergarten through 12th are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. This is a fun, group, game-based audition where every child feels included. Assistant Directors will also be cast to assist with the technical aspects of the production.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, and props. MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 4-8:15 p.m. Not all of the cast will be required to attend all of the rehearsals. 

Roles and rehearsal schedules will be handed out following the audition. The Jungle Book will be presented at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 at Monroe Arts Center. The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in Monroe is sponsored by Monroe Arts Center with support from local donors, underwriters, and the wonderful staff and leadership at Super 8.
