Introductory class on Zen practice set for Feb. 27

MONROE - Susan Myoyu Andersen will present an introductory class on Zen meditation at Great Plains Zen Center, W7762 Falk Road, Monroe, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 27. Suggested donation is $25, or $15 for seniors, students, or special circumstances. The facility is wheelchair-accessible. Pre-registration is requested.

Participants will receive instruction in how to do Zen meditation and will learn about the types and goals of Zen practice, the benefits and how to keep practice at home going successfully. Both newcomers and those with experience are welcome. Zen meditation can be practiced by people of any religious tradition and can help reduce everyday stress and promote clarity of mind, concentration and compassion toward all beings.

Anderson has practiced Zen for more than 40 years and has taught since 1995. She has taught Zen meditation in many settings including schools, hospitals and prisons.
