Introduction to Zen class set for Saturday

MONROE - Susan Myoyu Andersen Roshi will present an introductory class on Zen meditation from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Great Plains Zen Center, W7762 Falk Road, Monroe. Suggested donation is $25, $15 for seniors, students, special circumstances. Wheelchair accessible.

Participants will receive instruction in how to do Zen meditation and will learn about the types and goals of Zen practice, the benefits, and how to keep practice at home going successfully. Newcomers and those with experience are both welcome. Zen meditation can be practiced by people of any religious tradition and can help with reducing everyday stress, promoting clarity of mind, concentration and compassion toward all beings.

Susan Myoyu Roshi has practiced Zen for over 30 years and was given permission to teach by her Zen teacher, Taizan Maezumi Roshi in 1995. She has taught Zen meditation in many settings including schools, hospitals, and prisons and currently teaches at Zen Centers in Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan.
