MONROE - The Natural Resources Conservation Service has money available for conservation practices and interested landowners should apply by Friday, Jan. 18 to be considered for 2013 funding.
The Environmental Quality Incentive Program provides funding for many different practices including dams, waterways, riprap and diversions. Waste storage and barnyard runoff control are also eligible for payment. The main goals of the program are to stop soil erosion and improve water quality. Payment rates average 75 percent of the project cost. Funding is also available for forestry and wildlife practices, including forest stand improvement, stream/fish habitat and native grass establishment.
