'In the Spotlight 2011' choir event is Saturday

BRODHEAD - Brodhead High School's 13th annual "In the Spotlight" 2011 will take place on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Twenty groups, including Brodhead's own three performing choirs, will take the stage in front of a panel of judges for the event.

Groups participating this year include: Monona Grove High School's "Silver Dimension"; Fort Atkinson High School's "Lexington Singers"; Durand High School's "Northern Lights"; Neenah High School's "Act II"; Orfordville-Parkview High School's "Pizazz"; Wheaton North High School's "Flight"; Green Bay East High School's "Rhapsody"; Tomah High School's "Limited Edition"; Brodhead Middle School's "Choral Cardinals"; Brodhead High School's "Boys & Girls"; Westosha Central High School's "Central Connection"; Burlington High School's "B*Jazzled"; Altoona High School's "Locomotion"; Holmen High School's "Midwest Express"; Neenah High School's "Vintage 2011"; DePere High School's "Jam Session"; Monona Grove High School's "Silver Connection"; Fort Atkinson High School's "South High Street Singers"; La Crosse Logan High School's "The Class Act"; and Brodhead High School's "Guys & Dolls."

Competition will begin at 8:25 a.m. with doors opening at 8 a.m. Preliminary daytime competition will run through 5:15 p.m., when awards and the evening finalists will be announced. Awards being given out include Best Instrumental Ensemble, Best-Dressed, People's Choice, Best Male and Female Soloist Within a Show, First Runner-Up and Grand Champion in Class A/Women's Division, Best Choreography and Best Vocals.

Daytime admission of $8 will be taken at the door. An evening championship admission charge will also be $8. An all-day admission bracelet can be purchased for $14. Souvenir programs will be for sale as well as a wide variety of concessions in the auditeria, including deep fried cheese curds and specialties from "Bullwinkles."
