‘I’m a Farmer Too’ slated for March 20

MINERAL POINT — Women are a key aspect of the agriculture industry and are responsible for many facets of the farm. This program is geared toward women and the many hats they wear in the agricultural industry. Topics for the day center around exploring diversified revenue streams, such as agritourism and locally grown product marketing. 

Presenters and topics are as follows:

●  Diversified Revenue Streams by Stephanie Plaster, UW-Extension Agriculture Business Development Statewide Outreach Specialist

●  Farm Biosecurity by Jackie McCarville, UW-Extension Regional Dairy Educator—Grant, Green, Iowa, and Lafayette Counties

●  On-Farm Classes by Kim Kester, UW-Extension Regional Livestock Educator — Grant, Green, Iowa, and Lafayette Counties

●  Diversified Crops by Jordyn Sattler, UW Extension Regional Crops and Soils Educator- Grant Green, Iowa, and Lafayette Counties

●  Flower Farms by Sally Rech, Rech Family Gardens

●  Participants will also be completing a couple craft projects while they learn. Craft projects include beeswax candle making and a dried flower craft. There will also be door prizes. 

The event will be hosted on March 20 at the Iowa County Fairgrounds, 900 Fair Street, Mineral Point. RSVP was due by March 13 by calling the Lafayette County UW Extension Office, 608-776-4820. 

RSVP and registration fee was required a week before the program date. It may cancel due to low enrollment or weather, calling those who have registered.
