Humane Society launches ‘Tails of the Year’ pet photo contest for 2026 calendar

MONROE — The Green County Humane Society (GCHS) is excited to announce the launch of its first-ever “Tails of the Year” Calendar Contest, giving local pet lovers a chance to see their furry companions featured in the organization’s 2026 calendar — all while supporting the shelter’s mission to care for animals in need.

Participants can submit a photo of their pet for a $20 entry fee via the official submission form on the GCHS website. Each photo will be posted to the GCHS Facebook page, where the community can cast their votes by liking their favorite entries. The 13 pets with the most likes will earn a spot in the calendar — one for each month, plus the coveted cover feature.

“This is a fun, interactive way to showcase the amazing pets in our community while raising crucial funds for our shelter,” said Ashley Curtis, Marketing Manager at GCHS. “We can’t wait to see all the adorable entries roll in!”

● Photo submissions are open through July 31, 2025.

● Voting closes on August 30, 2025.

● The final calendar will be available for purchase later this fall, with proceeds benefiting the animals and programs of GCHS.
