MONROE - Horsefeathers Cowboy Band will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a reunion jam from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 30 at Leisure Lanes. The event is sponsored by Huber Bock Beer (Minhas Brewery).
Horsefeathers Cowboy Band originated in 1974 by Mort Armstrong. Horsefeathers won "Best Country Band in Wisconsin" in contests put on by WTSO in Madison. Over the years, the band recorded two 45s and one full album. Horsefeathers traveled and played all over, including a few trips to Nashville where they have appeared multiple times on Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree - a nationally broadcast radio show. The band has opened for national acts, such as Tom T. Hall, Tammy Wynette, Barbara Mandrell, Dotty West, Conway Twitty, George Jones and Ernest Tubb.
Mort Armstrong and Horsefeathers have hosted several annual country music festivals including in Monroe, Albany and Argyle. These festivals helped raise money for local EMS departments.
Horsefeathers had mainly five different variations of the band that consisted of 29 different musicians. Of these 29 musicians, 19 will be appearing at the reunion jam on Sunday, March 30.
