MONROE - The annual Green County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) "Green County Homemakers' Favorites" cookbook has been a source for new holiday recipe or hostess gift for years.
This year's "Green County Homemakers' Favorites," also known as the Holiday Letter, includes more than 100 recipes from HCE club members. "It is an outstanding value with plenty of simply, down-to- earth recipes,' said Donna Ladwig, chair of the annual cookbook. Members of the Green County organization each submit their favorite recipes, both new and somewhat unique to fill a special niche, or older-time-tested recipes to be included in the publication.
This year's special feature category is salads.
HCE is a non-profit organization that partners with University of Wisconsin-Extension Family Living programs, at both the state and county level, to bring quality educational programming to members and communities. Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook fund yearly grants and scholarships given by HCE for Green County students pursuing a college degree or furthering their higher education.
Annually four scholarships are awarded totaling $1,000. "This project is just one of the many ways in which HCE supports education in our community," said Ladwig.
The cookbook is available to the general public for a cost of $3 at the Green County UW-Extension office located in the Justice Center, Monroe. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
