MONROE — The Green County Historical Society will be hosting a picnic and presentation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at Lincoln Park in Monroe to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln Park and the 130th Anniversary of the Lincoln Park Water Tower.
The public is invited to bring a picnic lunch, enjoy the park, peek inside the historic Lincoln Park Water Tower and learn about how the tower came to be, how it was saved and what the future holds for the tower.
Members of the Green County Historical Society will be on hand to provide information about the park and tower, the society’s museum (located on 9th Street in Monroe), and the society itself. Desserts and beverages will be provided.
Donna and John Glynn, who have been instrumental in the efforts to save and restore the water tower, along with others who have played a role in its restoration, will be on hand to open the tower doors for viewing, answer questions, and present a brief program at 1 p.m.
