DARLINGTON - Author Caitlynn Nemec will be the speaker at the joint meeting of the Lafayette County Historical Society and the Lafayette County Genealogy Society at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 4 in the community room of Town Bank.

Nemec's book "A Wisconsin Bird Alphabet - A to Z" features one Wisconsin bird for every letter of the alphabet, each with drawing and description. The book was inspired by her daughter as the family was walking together through the woods.

Nemec graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology with a field emphasis and environmental science minor from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She received her master's degree in wildlife ecology from UW-Madison. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Mount Horeb. She also plays the flute, makes pottery and is active in community conservation organizations and the DAR. She loves spending time outdoors.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
