DARLINGTON - The Darlington High School Theatre Department is gearing up for its 2016 spring production, "Father Knows Best." Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. March 18 and 19 and at 1:30 p.m. March 20 in the Darlington High School auditorium.

Based on the 1950s television series, this comedy tells the story of Betty Anderson and her attempt to get her first date with Ralph. After reading a newspaper story about teenage elopement, Father decides he had better get acquainted with the young man first. He decides the family should spend the evening at home, but it seems that Bud, Kathy and Mother have made plans to go out. Aggravated, Father puts his foot down, and they all stay home. The town's social life suddenly is centered on the Anderson household when a potential client, Mr. Brinkworth, the washing machine repairman, police officers and ladies of the garden club all show up at the home. The excitement and humorous complications grow until Father discovers that while he may know best, the young people know a little, too.

Tickets are general admission and cost $6 when purchased ahead of time at the high school office or $8 at the door.
