BRODHEAD - Anita Henderlight, a human rights worker and leader of an international organization promoting education in the world's newest nation, will speak at a public meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at the Brodhead United Methodist Church, 501 First Center Ave.
Henderlight, Knoxville, Tenn., is a founder and executive director of the Africa Education and Leadership Initiative, (Africa ELI), a six-year-old organization that supports 11 schools in the newly founded Republic of South Sudan in central Africa.

Africa ELI was founded in 2006 to support education of girls and young women in the region. It now enrolls boys as well as girls and, last December, celebrated its first graduation with a class of 54 students.
