WIOTA - The Wiota Firemen's Auxiliary held its annual Halloween party, on Sunday, Oct. 31 at the Wiota Schoolhouse, with 118 people attending.

The theme this year was the Wizard of Oz, with life-size cutouts of the original Wizard of Oz characters. Dorothy was the center of attention (or center of the room) with two life-size cutouts on each corner, complete with carrying a wooden basket with "Toto" in it.

The Fishpond corner was the "Munchkins-R-Us," and they were having a "Ruby Red Slipper" sale, but actually had lots of free trinkets for the younger children.

The refreshment table had a "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" sign with "Pots of goodies" at the end of the colorful rainbow. At the entrance, everyone had the yellow brick road to follow into the party, and they were greeted by the life-size cut outs of the Lion, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow, with lots of ghosts helping them.

There were also two special door prizes this year. In honor of Marcia Swiggum's 25th year as president of the auxiliary, the group gave a cash prize of $25, and the Woodford State Bank gave a $50 savings bond. The two lucky winners were Meghan Larson and Rhett Reuter.
