Grossen retires from Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association board

MONROE - The Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association held its annual election for the board of directors Feb. 21. The newly elected board member is Mark Witke of Wiota, president of Zimmerman Cheese, who was elected treasurer of the board.

The re-elected board members were president Chris Roelli, owner of Roelli Cheese Company in Darlington, and secretary Rob Frie, director of operations at Emmi Roth USA in Monroe.

They join the following returning board members: Adam Buholzer, vice president of production at Klondike Cheese Inc., Monroe, vice president; John Jaeggi, cheese industry and applications coordinator at the Center for Dairy Research, University of Wisconsin-Madison; John (Randy) Pittman, owner of Mill Creek Cheese, Arena; Ben Workman, plant manager, Edelweiss Creamery, Monticello; Thomas Dahmen, senior plant manager, Chula Vista Cheese, Browntown; Lindsey White, co-owner, Torkelson Cheese, Lena; and Rob Bradley, quality/product development/technical systems, Family Fresh Pack, Monticello.

The Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association also recognized Gary Grossen, Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker and cheesemaker at Babcock Hall Dairy, UW-Madison, for 40 years of service on the board of directors. In his years on the board, he held the office of the president and retired as the treasurer.

The Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association was established in 1935 to perform quality control testing on the cheese produced by Green County cheesemakers and today serves the cheese and dairy industry throughout the Midwest. The association operates an ISO 17025 certified state-of-the art laboratory in Monroe.
