MONROE - The Green County Special Olympics Agency was recently honored at the North American Special Olympics Conference in Madison. Athletes Tony Petit, Samantha Larson, Arnold Lancaster, Steve Williams and Melody Judkins, were selected to attend a dinner held at the Concourse on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Some athletes were given the opportunity to take center stage to ask trivia questions to the audience, which included representatives from all over the United States as well as Canada and the Caribbean. University of Wisconsin-Madison's Bucky Badger, along with the UW cheerleaders and Alice in Dairyland, were available for photos and to spend time with the athletes.
One of the events during the four-day conference was an auction which included items donated by all 50 states. Green County Special Olympics athletes were selected to receive proceeds from the auction.
This was a huge honor for the athletes considering how many agencies are in the entire state of Wisconsin. The athletes commented what a fun and eventful evening they had, and it was quite evident they were very proud to represent Green County.
