MONROE — The Green County Sheriff’s Office closed 2022 by announcing a number of personnel changes and commemorating the multi-generational commitment to the department by its members.

“This past year we said farewell to a number of our co-workers and friends,” said a Facebook post by the department. “Some of the above career movement resulted in a very special occasion earlier this week that we’d like to highlight…”

And the post went on to say that Sheriff Jeff Skatrud officially promoted Deputy Sheriff Cameron Fiez from the Jail Division to the Patrol Division. But making the occasion even more special was the fact that Cameron received badge number 29 — his father’s patrol badge number.

“Cameron will continue on the same career path as his father, Green County Sheriff’s Office Detective Chris Fiez, as he makes the transition to the patrol division,” the department statement said. “The Green County Sheriff’s Office has been extremely fortunate to have some incredible members over the years and were very excited to see we will have the Fiez family as part of our family for years to come. “

Chris himself recently celebrated 28 years of service to the sheriff’s office.

“To the Fiez family — a huge and heartfelt thank you for all the sacrifices you’ve made and the service you have provided to the citizens and visitors of our county,” said the department post. “Our agency would not be what it is today without members like you.”
