MONROE - The 2012 Green County Land Judging Contest was held Tuesday, July 10, at the Larry and Luan Ott farm, southwest of Monroe. The competition was for the judging of residential, transportation and recreational land use.
Those who participated were from Belleville, Cashton, Cassville, Cuba City, Janesville Craig, Lancaster, Monroe, Monticello, Pecatonica, Potosi and River Ridge. A total of 58 students participated in the contest.
Top Individual went to Logan Udelhoven, Potosi. Mark Jenson, Monroe, placed second and Tyler Udelhoven, Potosi, placed third. Austin Minder, Monroe, also placed eleventh in the contest.
In team results, Potosi placed first, Cashton placed second, Cassville placed third, River Ridge placed forth and Monroe placed fifth. Monticello placed eighth and Pecatonica placed ninth.
The Newell B. Smith award went to Travis Gilson of York 4-H. Coplien Painting donated the award.
The Monroe Moose Lodge provided pit bosses for the contest as well as a lunch afterwards. Jeff Deniger of the Natural Resources Conservation Service was the official judge of the contest.
