MONROE - Fall Prevention Awareness Week starts Sept. 23. The theme is "Take a Stand to Prevent Falls." Green County Aging and Disability Resource Center will take part by presenting events on fall prevention.

The Stepping On workshop helps older adults prevent falls. The workshop is for two hours, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., once a week for seven weeks, beginning Sept. 24 at the Behring Senior Center.

Stepping On is an interactive workshop that will help participants identify why they fall and ways to prevent falls, including strength and balance exercises, home safety check suggestions and a medication review. Participants will view a display of products for falls prevention.

The Aging and Disability Resource Center's wellness and prevention specialist will be conducting balance tests from noon to 3 p.m. Friday at the Monroe Public Library and from 8 a.m. until noon Sept. 16 at the Behring Senior Center.
