MONROE — The 13th annual Green County Premier Exhibitor contest was held at the 2022 Green County Fair. This event is designed to recognize 4-H and FFA members who have shown exceptional involvement and knowledge in their respective project area.
The Premier Exhibitor contest is open to any exhibitor in the areas of swine, dairy, beef, sheep, goats, rabbits, and poultry, and is divided into two age divisions.
The junior division is for exhibitors in grades 3-8, and the senior division is for exhibitors in grades 9 and up.
There is also a Platinum division for youth in the senior division who have previously won first place in their respective species. Youth who participate in this division are tested on all species rather than just their own.
During this event, contestants participated in showmanship, a skillathon, and took a 35 point knowledge quiz. The skillathon consisted of four stations: breed identification, equipment identification, meat and cheese identification and feed identification.
The top participant in each species and division received a cooler bag, $20 in Monroe Money, and a bag of candy donated by Colony Brands Inc. The 2nd and 3rd place participants in each division received $30 and $20 Nasco show supply or Farm and Fleet gift cards, respectively. The Grand Platinum Premier Exhibitor earns an embroidered gym bag, with the Reserve earning a $25 Culvers gift card.
Sponsors for this contest included: Colony Brands Inc., Hesgard Collision Center LLC, Green County Holstein Breeders, Green County Jr. Holstein Breeders, Green County Beef Producers, Green County Pork Producers, Green County Sheep Producers, The Froseth Family, and Extension Green County.
