Green County Child Advocacy Center welcomes facility dog Nexa
dogs for better lives

MONROE — Dogs for Better Lives proudly placed Facility Dog Nexa at Green County Child Advocacy Center in Monroe recently.

Facility Dogs are highly trained to partner with professionals in schools, hospitals, therapy programs, and other community spaces. They help reduce stress, provide motivation, and build a sense of trust for children and adults alike.

Facility Dog Nexa is paired with Adrienne and will become an invaluable member of the team at the Green County Child Advocacy Center.

“Nexa provides comfort and support to children before and after their forensic interview. Nexa is trained to work at the facility with children who have been a victim of a crime. She sits with the child through their trauma assessment and follow-up therapy sessions. Children are seen weekly for treatment, sometimes as long a year so the children are very bonded with her. She knows many commands but uses lap, visit and squish most often. Nexa has been an asset to our team since she joined us in June,” said Adrienne.

Facility Dogs help create environments that motivate people to participate in therapies, engage in classroom activities, and build confidence in their daily routines,” said Gwen Dudek, Vice President of Program at Dogs for Better Lives. “With Nexa, we’re proud to strengthen the level of support available in this community.”
