MONROE — October 4-10 is National 4-H Week and Green County is celebrating all the great opportunities that the 4-H youth development program offers young people to learn, grow and lead.
“I love being in 4-H for lots of reasons,” said Tess Lange, Young Americans 4-H club member. “It’s fun, I get to meet new people, I get to create projects, I get to learn things and I get to help people.”
As part of the National 4-H Week festivities, Green County 4-H families will be showing their 4-H pride on Wednesday, October 7th by wearing a 4-H t-shirt or a green shirt to school or work.
“I love 4-H because it gives you the chance to interact with any animal you want. My favorite animals are pigs!” said Maddie Ruegsegger, Clarno 4-H Club member.
4-H is the largest youth development organization in the world, with 7 million young people across the globe learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. In Green County, 4-H is a program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension, engaging more than 530 4-H members and 210 adult volunteers.
Marissa Vosberg, a member of the Young Americans 4-H club, has this to say about her 4-H experience: “I enjoy being in 4-H because there are so many different things that I am able to do. I am able to exhibit so many different things from my dairy cattle to photographs, and am able to attend many different trips where I can meet kids from all over the country. I have also learned so many things and met many new people through 4-H. 4-H really has something for everyone.”
