MONROE - As the Green County Livestock Facility Study Group begins to develop recommendations to present to the Green County Board, the study group is inviting Green County residents to share research-based ideas for recommendations. The purpose of the study group is to use science-based information to provide the board with science-based recommendations developed to effectively protect groundwater, surface water, air quality and public health and safety.

Recommendations must be submitted in writing to Victoria Solomon, community resource development educator with Green County University of Wisconsin-Extension by Feb. 26. To submit a recommendation, send it to Victoria.Solomon@ces.uwex.edu with the subject line "Recommendation Brainstorm for Livestock Facility Study Group" or write to the Livestock Facility Study Group c/o Green County UW-Extension, 2841 6th St., Monroe, WI 53566.

Recommendations should be brief and cite a source to justify the recommendation. Submitting a recommendation does not mean that a recommendation is guaranteed to be included in the final report to the county board.

The members of the study group are: Paul Beach, Tom Daly, Ken Hodgson, Barb Krattiger, Oscar Olson, Jen Brooks, Craig Edler, Bert Paris and Bethany Storm. The non-voting advisory members of the study group are Todd Jenson, director of the Green County Land and Water Conservation Department; RoAnn Warden, director of the Green County Health Department; Adam Wiegel, director, Land Use and Zoning Department; and Mark Mayer, former agriculture and natural resources educator with Green County UW-Extension. Victoria Solomon, community resource development educator with Green County UWEX, is facilitating the process.
