FREEPORT — The Senior Resource Center is excited to announce the launch of its new Golden Gamers Group, a fun and welcoming opportunity for older adults to connect through games, laughter, and friendship. The group will meet every other Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon starting Sept. 30 at the Senior Resource Center, 206 E. Stephenson Street, Freeport.
Golden Gamers offers something for everyone — whether you enjoy playing old favorites like bingo and card games, or want to learn something new. The group is free and open to all adults age 60 and older.
“Staying socially active is just as important as staying physically active,” said Amanda Faivre, Executive Director of the Senior Resource Center. “Playing games together not only provides a chance to see old friends and make new ones, but it also keeps our brains sharp and boosts our overall well-being.”
Research shows that social interaction and mental engagement are vital for healthy aging. Group activities like Golden Gamers can reduce feelings of isolation, support cognitive health, and create a sense of belonging in the community.
