Girl Scouts will have cookies in hand this year

MONROE - This year, Girl Scout cookie lovers won't have to wait to enjoy their favorite snack. That's because girls will have the cookies "in hand" to sell when she goes door-to-door.

Badgerland Council is introducing a direct-cookie sale this fall where selling, delivery and money collection happens in one visit.

Badgerland Council Girl Scouts will begin selling cookies around their neighborhoods in the direct sale starting Saturday, Oct. 27. Look for community booth sales to begin popping up the weekend of Nov. 2 and throughout November. The program ends on Nov. 26.

In addition to the direct cookie sale, the cookie boxes got a facelift. This year is the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting and to help celebrate, the packages were redesigned to better illustrate the meaning of the Cookie Program. The packages now feature the entrepreneurship and business literacy skills that Girl Scouts learn through the cookie sale.

Eight cookie varieties will be available this year including Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbreads, Thanks-A-Lot, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Lemonades and a brand new cookie. Mango Crème with Nutrifusion is the newest flavor. The crunchy vanilla and coconut cookie sandwich is filled with mango-flavored crème, and the cream itself is infused with fruit-based nutrients.
