Girl Scouts continue basket tradition

MONROE - Girl Scout Troop 204 helped celebrate Girl Scout Week by presenting baby girl baskets to the first two baby girls born closest to the Girl Scout birthday of March 12. Basket items were donated by more than 20 troops from Monroe, Monticello and Juda. This has been a girl scout tradition for many years.

The first baby girl born was Ella Jean Manley, daughter of Kim Moore and Tom Manley of Brodhead. Ella was born at 7:59 a.m. March 12, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and 19 1/2 inches long.

The second baby girl born was Karelyn Martell Villa, daughter of Mabel Villa Castellanos and Carmelo Martell of Monroe. Karelyn was born on March 14, weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and 20 1/2 inches long.
