GCGS meeting presents Green Burials

MONROE — The Green County Genealogical Society will present “Green Burials” by Shedden Farley.

The presentation is at 10 a.m. on August 2 in the Monroe Public Library community room on the second floor. 

The main focus will be on green burials in general, Natural Path Sanctuary specifically. The methods, science, reasoning behind green burials will be discussed, along with Funeral homes and home funerals. 

This talk will include a brief history of the events that led to the development of the Farley Center and Natural Path Sanctuary. The social and environmental justice components of the Farley Center, and the integral linkage between the two organizations will be mentioned.

Shedden Farley is the third son of Gene Farley, the founder of The Linda and Gene Farley Center, and Linda Farley, its inspiration. Shedd graduated from the University of Colorado in 1984, and was a general contractor and home builder in Colorado until 2015. When Gene Farley died in late 2013, Shedd and his wife, Caroline, decided to make the move to Wisconsin to build on the lifelong legacies of Linda and Gene.
